Vice President Joe Biden, former Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton, and other government officials praised the passengers and crew of Flight 93, which was one of four planes highjacked by members of the al-Qaida terrorist network. Several passengers aboard the aircraft fought with the highjackers, who intended to crash the plane into a Washington, D.C., building. The plane instead crashed in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, due to the actions of the passengers on board the flight. After the event dignitaries spoke informally with the relatives of the victims and other members of the audience. close
