David Goldfield talked about his book America Aflame: How the Civil War Created a Nation. In the book he examines the history of America from the 1830s through Reconstruction, focusing on the effects of religion and industrialization. Professor Goldfield was interviewed at the University of North Carolina.

C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) on their “2011 LCV Cities Tour” were in Charlotte, N.C., on August 29-September 2, 2011, to feature the history and literary life of the city that would host the 2012 Democratic National Convention. Working with the Time Warner local cable affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on BookTV on C-SPAN2. close
