Prime Minister Julia Gillard answered questions from members of her party and the opposition. Questions focused on a levy to tax carbon pollution. On October 12, members voted 74-72 in favor of a tax that will impose a $23 dollars per ton fee on carbon pollution. Opponents accused the Prime Minister of breaking her pre-election promise not to levy a carbon tax, arguing that it will cost jobs. close
