Vernon Loeb and Sean O’Connell talked about their book, King’s Counsel: A Memoir of War, Espionage, and Diplomacy in the Middle East. On his arrival in Jordan in 1958, Jack O’Connell unraveled a coup aimed at the young King Hussein, who would become America’s most reliable Middle East ally. This book explores that relationship and the secret history of a lost peace.

This interview was held at the 34th Annual National Press Club Book Fair and Authors' Night, a fundraiser for the Eric Friedheim National Journalism Library held Tuesday, November 15, 2011, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. close
