Professor Peter Cappelli talked about his recent Wall Street Journal opinion piece, “Why Companies Aren’t Getting the Employees They Need,” and he responded to telephone calls and electronic communications. He argued that despite the claim by employers that the U.S. education system is to blame for the lack of skilled workers for companies to hire, the companies themselves, through the hiring systems that they use, end up turning away potential workers. Some of those systems include unwillingness to offer suitable training for qualified candidates and the process for writing job descriptions. close
