The House Rules Committee considered legislation extending the current Social Security payroll tax cuts that expire at the end of 2011, continue unemployment benefits, and prevent a cut in Medicare payments to physicians. The bill would also repeal some parts of the 2010 health care law, and required the White House to make a decision on the Keystone XL oil pipeline linking Canada and Texas. close
