Adam Goodheart, author of 1861: The Civil War Awakening, talked about the legacy of the Union’s loss at the October 1861 Battle of Ball’s Bluff. Topics included the death of Senator Edward Baker, after whom Abraham Lincoln had named his son. Mr. Goodheart was interviewed at a Civil War exhibit at the National Portrait Gallery.
