John Sykes talked about the Revolutionary War battle of Fort New Richmond that was decided on September 21, 1779, when the British surrendered to Spanish forces. He also talked about the Republic of West Florida that resulted. Mr. Sykes spoke at the site of the fort near the Pentagon Barracks on the Mississippi River.
