State Archivist Florent Hardy gave a tour of the Louisiana State Archives. Louisiana became the 18th state in 1812, but as well as the state documents, the archives also holds documents from when the area was governed by the U.S. after the Louisiana Purchase in 1803. Mr. Hardy showed the document that created the West Florida Republic of Louisiana in 1810, and Civil War documents. He displayed dolls made for the Work Progress Administration and several items associated with former Governor Huey P. Long
