Deborah Hersman talked about the role of the National Safety Transportation Board (NTSB), and she responded to telephone calls and electronic communications. The NTSB is an independent federal agency responsible for investigating transportation accidents. Ms. Hersman discussed her agency’s budget and responsibilities in light of its recent recommendation urging all 50 states to ban texting while driving.
