Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming - BRIEFING: Extreme Weather in a Warming World - From New York City to Nashville, Washington to Pakistan, 2010 has seen more than its fair share of extreme weather events. To probe the long-term trends of disruptive weather events in a world beset by climate change, Chairman Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) and the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming held a briefing to discuss these issues. The briefing featured Husain Haqqani, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, who discussed the historic floods that have displaced millions of his countrymen. The briefing also included top climate scientists.
