Adams Liptak was interviewed by phone about the Supreme Court’s decision to hear a case on affirmative action as a factor in college entry. The case involves a suit brought by a white student denied a spot at the University of Texas. This was the first time the court dealt with the issue of affirmative action in higher education since its 2003 decision endorsing the use of race as a factor in admissions. close
