Theda Skocpol and Vanessa Williamson present a study of the tea party movement. The authors examine several, regional tea party chapters and report that tea party supporters are predominantly middle-class, older Americans, who, according to the authors, mostly enjoy Medicare and Social Security benefits but are reluctant to pay taxes to assist those they deem ‘undeserving.’ Theda Skocpol and Vanessa Williamson responded to questions from members of the audience. close
