Pentagon officials briefed families of September 11, 2001, victims on the handling of their loved ones' remains at Dover Air Force Base. Acting Undersecretary Jo Ann Rooney told the families those remains were handled properly. This was part of an investigation that began in 2011 when it was discovered that some service member remains processed at Dover ended up in a landfill. close
