Senate Environment and Public Works Committee Chair Barbara Boxer (D-CA) convened an opening meeting of House and Senate conferees on the surface transportation bill. Senator Boxer and Ranking Member James Inhofe (R-OK) worked together with their committee colleagues to develop a two-year surface transportation bill, Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century (MAP-21), which maintains funding at current levels. On March 14, 2012, the Senate passed the bill with overwhelming bipartisan support. close
