Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta and Secretary of Veteran Affairs Eric Shinseki discussed ways to more effectively reintroduce those in the armed forces back into civilian life. The joint committee hearing was called to elaborate on the highest level of suicide from members of the armed forces in more than a decade, on average one per day. Topics included improvement of psychological tests, veteran unemployment, increased interaction with veterans, and better communication between the Departments of Defense and Veteran Affairs. close
