University student and online reporter Andrew Kaczynski talked about his work for the newly expanded politics section on BuzzFeed, an Internet-based social news organization that delivers original reporting, opinion, and viral content. He described his role in finding, researching, and releasing old video clips of politicians, noting that some statements from a person s early career do not reflect their current positions. He talked about the role of social media in reporting news, and joked about the difficulty of explaining BuzzFeed to his own parents. He also discussed his news sources and his decision to pursue reporting as a career.
Andrew Kaczynski was born and grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, and went to school at Ohio University. In 2010, he had an internship with the Republican National Committee. He joined BuzzFeed in January, 2012. close
