Panelists discussed issues facing LGBT service members in the armed forces. With the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” the military took a step towards LGBT inclusiveness. However, transgender service members continue to be discriminated against. Anyone diagnosed with Gender Identity Disorder can be discharged from the military immediately, no matter their service record. Panelists discussed the ongoing challenges to LGBT and what can be done to encourage acceptance and appreciation within the military. close
