American History TV is airing a selection of oral history interviews with former and current Asian American members of Congress. This week we hear from Senator Daniel Inouye of Hawaii who had youthful dreams of being an orthopedic surgeon before he was wounded in combat during World War II with the famed 442nd Regimental Combat Team, the all-volunteer Japanese American unit. He is now the most senior member of the U.S. Senate. This interview is about a half hour. close
