Sally Bedell Smith talked about her biography, Elizabeth the Queen: The Life of a Modern Monarch. In her book she recounts the life of Queen Elizabeth II, who ascended the British throne in 1952 at the age of twenty-five. She responded to telephone calls and electronic communications as well as to questions from members of the audience in the History and Biography Pavilion. She was interviewed following her presentation at the 12th annual National Book Festival, held on the National Mall. close
