Susan Hertog talked about her book chronicling the lives of two early feminists working in journalism, Dangerous Ambition: Rebecca West and Dorothy Thompson: New Women in Search of Love and Power. During the early 20th century, Rebecca West, an English journalist, novelist, and critic, and Dorothy Thompson, an American journalist and first female head of a U.S. news bureau in Europe, defied convention to achieve unprecedented fame in a male-dominated era. She responded to questions from members of the audience.

This was an event in the History and Biography Pavilion of the 12th annual National Book Festival, held on the National Mall. close
