Judy Woodruff, Gwen Ifill, and Candy Crowley talked about their experiences covering presidential campaigns and the 2012 campaign. Topics included the importance to voters of the conventions, ads, and debates. Video clips from PBS were shown, and the panelists also responded to questions from members of the audience. Jim Duff moderated.

The previous week, Cancy Crowley became the first woman to moderate a presidential debate since 1992, although Gwen Ifill moderated the 2004 and 2008 vice-presidential debates as did Judy Woodruff in 1988. In 2012 Gwen Ifill and Judy Woodruff became the first all-female team to anchor a network’s Republican and Democratic National Convention coverage.

“Campaign 2012 Coverage: Breaking New Ground” was a program of the Bipartisan Policy Center held in the Annenberg Theater of the Newseum. close
