Jennifer Ortman and William Frey talked about anticipated U.S. population changes over the next half-century, and they responded to telephone calls and electronic communications. The Census Bureau released a report with projections showing a considerably older and more racially and ethnically diverse nation by 2060. These population projections by age, sex, race and origin, are the first set of population projections based on the 2010 Census. They also discussed policy ramifications of this population growth, including government spending on social programs, immigration, politics, and the effect of the 2008-09 recession.
