David Roll talked about his book, The Hopkins Touch: Harry Hopkins and the Forging of the Alliance to Defeat Hitler, in which he recounts the life and career of Harry Hopkins, advisor and friend to President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Hopkins, who did not have an official title in the Roosevelt administration, was a confidante to the president, who assisted in establishment of the New Deal and communications between Roosevelt, Churchill, and Stalin during World War II. David Roll spoke at Politics and Prose Bookstore in Washington, D.C. and responded to questions from the audience. close
