Deborah Hersman talked about transportation safety and challenges at a Christian Science Monitor Breakfast event at the St. Regis Hotel. She announced that the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) would hold a press conference the following day on its investigation into Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner fleet. All 50 of Boeing’s 787 fleet had been grounded due to battery failures and other glitches. Other topics included reducing driver distraction and the use of in-vehicle technology to reduce highway deaths. When asked about rumors that she was among the candidates to replace Transportation Secretary Ray Lahood, she said she was focused on her current position. close
