A dramatization of Marbury v. Madison, the 1803 U.S. Supreme Court decision that established the basis for judicial review of congressional and executive actions on the grounds of their constitutionality. E.G. Marshall provided introductory, concluding, and off-camera commentary as the issues were dramatized.

This was part of the five-segment series Equal Justice Under Law Commissioned by the Bicentennial Committee of the Judicial Conference of the United States and produced by WQED-TV to illustrate the American constitutional heritage as exemplified in the major decisions of the Supreme Court under Chief Justice John Marshall. Originally shown on PBS stations in 1977. close
