Bob Edgar talked about campaign donor groups' shift in focus from winning campaigns to advocating for policy. One of the examples he cited was Organizing for Action, which was formed after President Obama’s reelection campaign and seeks to advocate for his legislative priorities. Other topics included the history and mission of Mr. Edgar’s Common Cause group, the influence of donors on policy, Common Cause’s legal challenge of the Senate filibuster rule, and the group’s efforts to honor people on President Nixon’s “enemies list.” Mr. Edgar also responded to telephone calls and electronic communications. close
