Latin America experts talked about Venezuela President Nicolas Maduro and his chances for winning the country’s April 2013 presidential election. President Maduro succeeded deceased former President Hugo Chavez in March 2013. Among the issues they discussed were the sustainability of President Chavez’s governing model, Cuba and Iran’s role in Venezuela, the strength of interregional criminal and terrorist ties, and U.S. economic and security strategies for Latin America.
