Lori Wallach, co-author of The Rise and Fall of Fast Track Trade Authority, talked about her book, and co-author Todd Tucker explore how the process of creating U.S. trade agreements has changed throughout history. Ms. Wallach argues that the executive branch has increasingly gained control of U.S. trade through fast track negotiating authority, and that this development is bad for democracy. Fast track negotiating authority is the authority granted by Congress to the president to negotiate international trade agreements without going through the formal Congressional process. This event was held at Busboys and Poets in Washington, DC. close
