Secretary of State John Kerry released the 2012 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices, the State Department’s survey of human rights around the world. The report warned that nations such as Iran, Russia and Venezuela were pressuring human rights and other activists. In addition, the State Department criticized new restrictions on advocacy groups including laws banning free speech, assembly and religion. close
