Yang Jisheng, a Chinese journalist and former member of the Communist Party, talked about his book, Tombstone: The Great Chinese Famine, 1958-1962, in which he chronicles the Great Chinese Famine that killed an estimated 36 million people. He argued that the famine did not have natural causes and was fully the responsibility of Mao and the Communist Party. Yang Jisheng’s Tombstone: The Great Chinese Famine, 1958-1962 was awarded the Manhattan Institute’s 2013 Hayek Prize. Translation into English was performed by a translator. close
