President Obama outlined his comprehensive plan to address global climate change. He announced that he had directed the Environmental Protection Agency to begin federal regulations on carbon pollution by new and existing power plants. He also stated that approval of the Keystone Pipeline project needs to be in the “nation’s interest” and not exacerbate the effects of carbon pollution. The president, speaking on the campus of Georgetown University, addressed the students in the audience and spoke about preparing the country for the impacts of climate change and leading global efforts to fight it. close
