Legal experts reviewed major cases of the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2012-2013 term, talking about the history of the case, the Supreme Court’s decision and what the decision would lead to. Cases included using race-conscious policies in university and college admissions, the Voting Rights Act, search and seizure, how laws and the Constitution are applied to new technologies, and the same-sex marriage decisions. Theodore Olson, who was the lead attorney arguing against California’s same-sex marriage ban, talked about his victory in that case earlier in the week, noting that the respondents were married the day before.

The Fourth Circuit Judicial Conference was held at the Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. After the panel, Judge Gregory, the program committee chair, talked about the conference. close
