C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2013 LCV Cities Tour” in Bakersfield, California, from June 3-7 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Chris Livingston talked about the 1952 Bakersfield earthquake, which measured 7.3 on the moment magnitude scale, and produced one of the largest aftershocks ever recorded in California. Video and images of Bakersfield taken immediately after the event were shown, and a local resident who was 12 years old when it happened talked about the experience.
