The House Appropriations Committee voted on a bill funding the Department of State in fiscal year 2014. It fully funded President Obama’s budget request for embassy security, but cut many other areas, totaling $6 billion less than fiscal year 2013's budget. The measure included $34 billion in non-mandatory spending, and $6.5 billion for counterterrorism, wars, emergencies and humanitarian response. close
