Rachel St. John talked about the history of the western U.S.-Mexico border from the mid-19th century to the turn of the 20th century. She spoke about the complex issues that arose out of the proposed boundary line following the end of the Mexican-American War in 1848 and the challenges in keeping the two nations apart. She also talked about the factors that contributed to the rise of immigration control along the border. This program was hosted by the Kansas City Public Library. close
