Witnesses testified on the Internal Revenue Service’s power to provide subsidies and tax credits for those buying insurance on health exchanges, as well as the power to apply penalties for those who refuse to buy insurance. Topics included the lawsuit brought by the state of Oklahoma over the tax credits. There were some heated exchanges over interpreting the legislation and over the Treasury Department providing more information about its rule-making process. close
