Democratic Senators Chuck Schumer (NY) and Debbie Stabenow (MI) reacted to the Commerce Department’s economic growth statistics. The report showed that U.S. economy grew in the second quarter at a seasonally-adjusted rate of 1.7 percent. Both senators addressed the impact of the sequestration budget spending cuts on economic growth and urged Congress to stop the cuts that were trigged by the Budget Control Act of 2011. close
