Speakers talked about the right to bear arms and other personal freedoms as well as personal responsibility and self-control. Many of the attendees were smoking and drinking beer during this outdoor event, headlined by talk show host Cam Edwards. Lead attorney David Kopel gave an update on a federal civil rights law suit against the State of Colorado, aimed at blocking new gun control measures. The plaintiffs of the suit included 55 elected sheriffs. In a question and answer session, Sheriff John Cooke said that he and his deputies would not be enforcing the new state gun control laws since they were unconstitutional.

The Independence Institute’s 11th Annual Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms Party was held at the Kiowa Creek Sporting Club in Bennett, Colorado. close
