Treasury Secretary Jack Lew talked about on the state of the economy, the Obama administration’s proposals to improve economic growth, and the fiscal challenges the White House was facing with Congress. In his remarks he said that President Obama would not not negotiate with Congress over raising the debt ceiling and that it was “very dangerous” for Congress to wait until the deadline to vote on the increase. He also criticized some House Republicans who support tying the passage of a continuing resolution to keep the government funded past October 1st to defunding the Affordable Care Act. Following his speech he was interviewed by David Rubenstein, answering questions on a variety of topics including sequestration, the next chair of the Federal Reserve, and some of the prior positions he has held in Washington. close
