Sean Reilly talked about proposed changes to the regulation of the U.S. Postal Service, which was continuing to lose money. Mr. Reilly explained the status of the postal service as a quasi-governmental agency that competes with the private sector but is not allowed to adapt to market conditions with the freedom of a private company. He explained the bipartisan Postal Reform Act of 2013 (S. 1486) introduced in the Senate and how it differs from House proposals. Video clips were shown from Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee hearings of September 19 and 26, 2013. Topics included what would happen to the USPS during a government shutdown. He responded to telephone calls and electronic communications. close
