Western Heritage Center’s Kevin Kooistra talked about the life of Billings born suffragist and human rights activist Hazel Hunkins Hallinan. Ms. Hallinan was an activist who left Billings to join protests on the White House lawn and attracted national media attention for her role as a suffragette. Ms. Hallinan continued to fight for civil rights throughout her life and at 87 years old, news reports called her Hazel the “hell-raiser.”

C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2013 LCV Cities Tour” in Billings, Montana from September 9-13 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Charter Communications local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. close
