On the second day of the government shutdown, House Republican leaders said they would offer legislation re-opening national parks, including the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. In response to questions they said that they were attempting to re-open the government piece by piece and that veterans who had made the trip to Washington but were unable to visit their memorials were an immediate problem. close
