Neal Keny-Guyer spoke about the humanitarian situation resulting from the Syrian civil war. The United Nations estimated there would be more than 3 million refugees from the war by December 2013. Mr. Keny-Guyer talked about the security challenges and need for greater humanitarian access in the region and offered solutions for dealing with the short-term relief and long-term development needs in Syria. Topics included the effect of the government shutdown on relief efforts. He responded to questions from the reporters in the audience. close
