Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz spoke about energy technology and policy changes on the 40th anniversary of the OPEC (Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries) oil embargo. He laid out the Obama administration’s plan for reducing U.S. dependence on oil and other carbon-based energy sources and discussed progress in areas such as biofuels, electric vehicles, natural gas, and solar power. He also said that we have “turned the corner” in terms of the debate over climate change so that it was no longer a question of if climate change was happening, but a question of how to respond to it. Secretary Moniz used come charts during his presentation and responded to questions from members of the audience. close
