Industry leaders talked about ways to encourage businesses to invest in and operate in the United States. Larry Fink said the United States was well-positioned to attract business investment, but he criticized lawmakers, citing the recent dispute over raising the debt ceiling. Other business leaders on the panel said low energy costs were attracting foreign companies and urged Congress to pass an immigration bill. National Economic Council Director Gene Sperling talked about the Obama administration launching a new effort to improve foreign investment. Undersecretary Francisco Sánchez made opening remarks.
“Why Select the USA: Perspectives on Investing and Operating in the United States” was a panel of the first-ever SelectUSA 2013 Investment Summit, held at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, D.C., by the U.S. Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration.
