Before the Senate began voting on amendments, Senator Pat Toomey (R-PA) spoke about his amendment to the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) which would provide an exemption for “religious” institutions. Senator Harkin (D-IA) spoke in opposition, saying that the amendment would open up businesses to lawsuits. Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) concurred. close
