Roosevelt’s life with polio, which Roosevelt contracted in 1921 at the age of thirty-nine. Mr. Tobin said that as an up-and-coming member of the Democratic Party, Roosevelt had to re-imagine his life and political future after being diagnosed with the disease. James Tobin spoke at the Louisville Free Public Library in Louisville, Kentucky. close
