Fordham Law School Professor Nicholas Johnson talked about his book, Negroes and the Gun: The Black Tradition of Arms, in which he argues that there is an unreported tradition that dates back to Reconstruction of African Americans using firearms to defend their families and communities. He said that the non-violence of the Civil Rights era helped bury this fact of black history. He spoke with Columbia University’s Zaheer Ali. close
