Alex Heckman, director of Education and Museum Operations at Dayton History, talked about Charles Kettering, an inventor, engineer, businessman, and holder of over 100 patents. Kettering is best known for his invention of the "self-starter", which would replace the crank start on the front of a vehicle. He also talked about Deeds Barn at the Heritage Center of Manufacturing and Entrepreneurship at Carillon Historical Park, where Kettering and many of his fellow engineers spent time working on their inventions.
C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2013 LCV Cities Tour” in Dayton, Ohio, from November 18-21 to feature the history and literary life of the community.
